Issue #4—dial now; the real miracle being

Write yourself a horoscope for 2019

Your appendix will leak. Your spleen will rupture. Your gallbladder will fail. Your appendix will somehow grow back, just to explode. Someone in a white coat will clear them all out of you and you'll drink only liquids and take all your meds and get, slowly, back to normal. It's amazing what you have and don't need, what you've carried all along assuming it was necessary. There are always new ways you can pare down and cut back, and wow how golden it is, sitting in the hospital in nothing but a paper gown, knowing there's something else to who you are besides any one gut, one cut, one day, one month.

Name a writer you discovered in the past 12 months that you think others should know about

Like three different Agatha Christie books, both in a traditional "surprised me" way, (woah, WHOdunnit?) and in that they're amazing and I could get so hard into Agatha Christie this summer. Seriously, I've never thought so much about how plot works/the machinery behind any mystery. As a poet, I want to be better friends with plot.

The Boss by Victoria Chang

If your life philosophy were a slogan for a restaurant, what would it be? (You don't need to use an existing restaurant's slogan for this)

This question makes me feel so weird? The only restaurant slogan I've ever liked is that KFC one that I don't think they have anymore that goes "There's fast food. Then there's KFC." which is so catty! But describes my life philosophy in no way. It would be generous to describe anything I think or say as my "life philosophy".

What creative outlet is your "if-I-weren't-a-writer (or visual artist)" pipe dream?

Eh, outside of writing I feel so un-creative. Can I just make collages and plant tomato gardens? Is that a pipe dream?

What is a piece or project you're working on now, that will be released soon, or that was recently released that you'd like to share with our readers?
